Strengthen Your Intuition for Better Leverage

Rock,                       Paper,                  Scissors

When I was at the seminar a few weeks ago, we played ultimate “rock, paper, scissors”.  We were put in pairs and we played a massive tournament with 150 people in the room.  Each winner would move on to the next round and play another winner until there were only 2 players left.  Each time I played, I was able to figure out what my opponent was going to pick and strategically win. I didn’t realize I was using my intuition or my analysis skills to guess but I just kept winning.  I couldn’t believe it, I was screaming “wohoo” people were carrying me on their shoulders, half the people were chanting my name, I was in complete shock.
I made it to the final round, there was just me and one other person….and I lost!

However, I got my big AHA.  I knew that I had good intuition, but I didn’t realize how accurate I was, and I didn’t realize that I use my intuition for everything.  For the first time, I finally understood how much leverage a strong intuition has.  When you use your intuition in any situation, you have a better chance at winning at the game you’re playing.  What makes me good as a coach is my ability to intuitively assess the situation and use my business skills to strategize a game plan.  After that experience and surprising even myself, I knew it was time to finally come out of the closet and declare myself to be an Intuitive Strategy Coach.

In the book Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill discovered that the brain is a sending and receivng station for thought.  Hill states “Through the aid of the Sixth Sense, you will be warned of impending dangers in time to avoid them and notified of opportunities in time to embrace them.”  A strong intuition can help you more accurately assess any situation and help you make more informed decisions.  Intuition is a mental faculty that strengthens with practice and proper use.
Here are ways you can exercise your mind to strengthen your intuition.

  • Get to know yourself and your body.  Your body is always communicating with you but you need to be aware of exactly how it communicates with you.
  • Some people feel things as emotions, some people can hear an inner voice, other people can see images in their mind, determine your own method of sensing things.
  • When you get an eerie feeling about someone or something, what does it feel like?  Is it a feeling in your stomach, in your heart or in your mind?  Start paying attention to those little messages.
  • Think of all the serendipitous experiences in your life. What allowed you to experience those moments?  Did you have a nudge to go meet someone, call someone or be at the right place at the right time?  Figure out your inner knowing.
  • Learn to clear your mind of thought.  Picture a blank whiteboard or a blank screen in your mind.  Allow images to get impressed on the screen and write them down.
  • When you are having a conversation with a friend, clear your mind, and during the conversation see what images come to you, or what things you hear in your mind, or what emotions you feel in your body.  Check in with your friend if anything you are sensing is correct.

Continue to practice all of these techniques and your intuition will strengthen as a result.  This may not happen overnight, but continue to build that muscle.  In time, you’ll surprise even yourself.
