Need for Speed

I sold my car!  I had no idea it would be so fast.  I put an ad up on craigslist and a day later I found a buyer.  Talk about the universe responding to speed!

And then it hit me….   I’ve had my car longer than I’ve known my husband. I’ve had my car longer than I’ve had my daughter.  I began to get a little sentimental.  That was my little sports car from my single days!  As much as I know that those years are long gone, it was just a little hard to swallow.  But whenever you let go of something old, you allow something new and better to take its place.   Here I come SUVs and Minivans!

I’m dedicating this week’s article “The Need for Speed” to my RX-8.  Thanks for those great years of fun, adventure and inspiration!

The Need for Speed

I didn’t know the first thing about selling cars. I had no idea what documents you need, what the process is or what to do with the title.  Since everything is available at our finger tips I was able to get that information within minutes.   As with anything new that you do in life, I was a little scared.  It was the fear of the unknown, what if I don’t sell it?  What if I get scammed?  What if after they buy the car they find something wrong with it and change their mind?  It’s the world of what-ifs.

I brought my car into Carmax and got an ok offer on it.  Right before I was going to take it, something in me told me to try my luck selling my car privately and advertising it over the internet.  Because of my fear and lack of knowledge about selling a car privately, I was willing to take a lower price on it by selling it to the dealer.

I put an ad on craigslist just to “see what would happen” and I came up with an asking price that I would be really happy about.  It took me literally less than 5 minutes to write the ad.  That same day, I got an interested buyer.  The next day they saw the car and instantly fell in love with it.  The buyer was a young lady who had been looking for a good deal on an RX-8.  I became a little sentimental as things became more real, but I felt good knowing that my special girl (my car) was going to be in good hands.

I was shocked as to how fast the whole process took.  Being ignorant in the car market, I just assumed that cars moved just as slow as the housing market here in Vegas.  It’s true what they say, “You don’t know what you don’t know.”  My mentor, Bob Proctor says “Everything you are seeking is seeking you in return”.  I needed a buyer, and my buyer was seeking a good deal on an RX-8.  However, the only way my buyer was able to find me was when I finally decided to put it out there on the internet wanting to be found.

The world responds to speed.  Things can happen in a matter of minutes.  But what does this mean for business?  Think about the service that you provide, are you putting yourself out there so that the people that need you can find you easily?  There are people out there that need what you provide.  Make yourself known, allow yourself to be found.  You may be pleasantly surprised as I was.  And you too can walk away with more money than you thought.   Need help putting yourself out there?  Contact Anne-Marie Today.
