Be Careful What You Wish For…
I can’t believe summer is over!! Did you have a good one? I spent over a month out east in Canada and then spent some time by the Jersey Shore. I’ve been manifesting this for 5 years now and it finally happened. I had a blast! I visited friends, had a family reunion. I also ate A LOT! The one thing I love about Canada is it’s multiculturalism. Wherever you go you see people speaking different languages and they have foods from every country you can think of. Checkout some of my pictures I uploaded on Facebook.
And now, my husband is in Hawaii for a month! It’s funny, we used to joke about how I’d spend a month in Canada every year and he’d spend a month in Hawaii and at the time it sounded like a perfect dream. But, sometimes when we actualy manifest something that we want, we have mixed emotions about it.
This July, I decided it was time. Time to travel north to Canada and visit Toronto, a place I haven’t been in over two years—my hometown. Given that I haven’t seen some of my family members in a while, I found myself looking forward to it.
The planning began, settling on spending a month in Toronto with my daughter to go visit family and friends and work remotely from there. But when the time came for me to leave to go, I completely freaked out.
“A month?” I thought. “How can I be away from Chuck for so long? How can I work with my clients? How will I work from Canada?”
Then it hit me — going to Canada for the summer is a goal I’ve had for the last 5 years! I’ve spent half a decade wishing for this opportunity! I suddenly turned my “freak out” to gratitude and set my anxieties aside.
Since I moved from Canada to the U.S., I wished for the kind of lifestyle where each year, I’d spend several summer months visiting Toronto. In reality, I’d spend a week at most, always feeling unsatisfied. A week just wasn’t enough.
So, every year as I’d write out my annual goals, I’d add Toronto to the list. It’s funny how things happen that way, how we set goals and manifest something, but when the time comes to commit and follow through, when it’s laid out before us in the perfect way, we complain and wonder why it’s happening.
When we set goals we should always be careful about what we wish for, because opportunities will arise. The question is, will you commit?
When the chance to follow through with our goal does happen, we have to first be grateful for the opportunity. Remember, you asked for this! Then, take a deep breath and make that quantum leap!
Don’t let fear or anxiety hold you back from what you’ve wished for; go for it! Because in the end, it will be great. You asked for it for a reason.
